4 Fun Lehigh Valley Events For Aug. 23!

Musikfest 2014 has come and gone, but that doesn’t mean the fun has to stop!  Whether you live in Easton, Bethlehem or Allentown and beyond, the Lehigh Valley has something fun to do this Saturday.

Easton- Tomato Fest

Easton Farmers’ Market will be swimming in the summery scent of tomatoes this Saturday from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. in Easton’s Centre Square.

Farmers’ Market vendors are centering their dishes around tomatoes this week, whether it’s fresh pizza cooked over a wood fire from Switchback Pizza Company or fried green tomatoes by Sycamore Grille.

Learn tips on how to plant and care for tomato plants, play a round of tomato mini golf with the kids or compete in the Market Marinara Contest.

Bethlehem- VegFest

Bethlehem’s 4th annual VegFest is an ode to all things vegan and sustainable.  Located in the Bethlehem’s Southside, VegFest invites everyone to learn more about natural foods and vegan produce with a range of speakers, exhibitors and food vendors.

Tour the vendors, relax with the Godfrey Daniels or learn more about the community.  Ever wondered why people go vegan? How do vegans get protein?  Sit in on one of several speaking events throughout the day to satisfy your curiosity.

Lehigh Valley International Airport- Lehigh Valley Airshow

lehigh valley airshow 2014, airshows, aerial acrobatics, Lehigh Valley’s 2nd annual airshow begins Saturday Aug. 23 and continues into Sunday.  You’ll need to buy tickets to this show, but if you like aviation it’ll be worth it.

Witness daring acts by the Misty Blues, an all-woman skydiving team that has been wowing audiences nationwide since the ’80s.  For more airplane acrobatics, check out the 4CE Aerobatic Team, which features several award-winning stars from the US National Aerobatic Team.

With skydiving, aerial acrobatics and wingwalking, the Lehigh Valley Airshow promises to be sensational fun for the whole family.

Lehigh Valley Comic Con

lvcc, lehigh valley comic con, allentown comic conComic book fans and pop culture enthusiasts will want to visit the Lehigh Valley Comic Con, located in the Schnecksville Fire Hall.

Science fiction will be front and center this Saturday from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. as the 501st Legion – Garrison Carida storms the hall. The Star Wars Mandalorian Mercs and Imperial Klingon Forces will also be on site.  Get your photo taken or learn about the costuming craft from these local experts.

Visit the artists and writers at Artists’ Alley to see local authors Vincent S. Tobia and Stephen Pytak in person.  And don’t forget about comics writer and artist Paul Abbamondi, creator of 365 Bad Comics, who will be at Artists’ Alley as well.
